Overview
The 2026 KMPDU General Elections will be conducted by the Independent Electoral Committee (IEC) in accordance with the KMPDU Constitution and the Election Rules and Procedures. The elections cover national leadership positions as well as branch and county liaison officer (CLO) positions across all ten branches.
This guide is intended to assist prospective candidates in understanding the requirements, process, and timelines for participating in the elections. Candidates are encouraged to read this guide in full and to contact the IEC helpdesk for any clarifications before submitting their applications.

Eligibility Requirements
Qualifications
- Must be a bona fide member of the union for at least 1 year.
- Sufficiently literate in English & Kiswahili languages (attach academic certificates).
- Professionally trained doctor — registration certificate with KMPDC or PPB with current valid retention certificate (2026).
- Must have no prior conviction in a court of law for a criminal offence (attach Certificate of Good Conduct — note: e-citizen payment receipts or sworn affidavits SHALL NOT be admissible).
- Shall have at least 2 years of experience post-internship.
Required Documents
- Must be a Kenyan citizen.
- Must be an eligible voter on the official register.
- Coloured copy of National Identification Card (both sides).
- Coloured passport-size photograph.
- Nominated by at least twenty (20) union members from each of at least 6 branches through the IEC online nomination link.
- Signed Code of Conduct declaration.
- Nomination fee payment evidence (union payment acknowledgement slip or banker's slip).

CLO Candidates
County Liaison Officer (CLO) candidates must meet the same qualifications as branch office candidates. CLO candidates require a minimum of five (5) nominations from members within the branch, submitted through the IEC online nomination link. The nomination fee is KES 5,000.

National Positions
National Chairperson
Heads the National Executive Committee and represents KMPDU nationally and internationally.
Deputy National Chairperson
Supports the National Chairperson and assumes duties in their absence.
Secretary General
Manages the day-to-day administration and correspondence of the union.
Deputy Secretary General
Assists the Secretary General and coordinates branch secretaries.
National Treasurer
Oversees the financial management and accountability of KMPDU funds.
Deputy National Treasurer
Assists the National Treasurer and ensures financial compliance.

The following seven (7) officer positions are available in each of the ten KMPDU branches:

Application Process
Confirm Your Eligibility
Before applying, verify that you meet all eligibility requirements for the position you intend to contest. Check your membership status, APC validity, and ensure you have no active disciplinary sanctions.
Prepare Your Documents
Gather all required documents in advance (see the Documents section below). Ensure your Certificate of Good Conduct is current and all documents are clear, legible scans or photographs.
Complete the Online Application Form
Visit the Apply page on this portal and complete the application form. Provide accurate personal details, select your position, upload all required documents, and accept the Code of Conduct declaration.
Review and Verify via OTP
Before final submission, review your completed application. An OTP will be sent to your registered email address to verify your identity. Enter the OTP to confirm and submit your application.
Receive Your Confirmation and Nomination Link
Upon successful submission, you will receive a confirmation email containing your candidate dashboard link and a unique nomination link. Share the nomination link with eligible KMPDU members to collect nominations.
IEC Review and Vetting
The IEC will review your application for completeness and compliance. You may be contacted if additional information is required. The IEC will approve, flag, or reject your application and notify you by email.
Collect Nominations
Once your application is under review, you may begin collecting nominations using your nomination link. Monitor your progress through your candidate dashboard.
Required Documents
All documents must be uploaded as clear, legible scans or photographs. The portal accepts PDF, JPG, and PNG formats. Each file must not exceed 10 MB.
Coloured Passport-Size Photograph
Recent colour photograph. Face must be clearly visible.
National Identification Card (Both Sides)
Coloured copy of both sides of your Kenyan National ID.
Academic Certificates
Evidence of literacy in English & Kiswahili as required by the qualifications.
KMPDC or PPB Registration Certificate
Current valid retention certificate for 2026. Must be issued by KMPDC or PPB.
Certificate of Good Conduct
Issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kenya. E-citizen payment receipts or sworn affidavits are NOT admissible.
Nomination Fee Payment Evidence
Union payment acknowledgement slip or banker's slip. See nomination fees below for amounts per position.

Code of Conduct Declaration
The Code of Conduct declaration is generated automatically as a PDF when you complete your application form. You will be able to preview the document before final submission. A copy will be available in your candidate dashboard.
Nomination Requirements
After submitting your application, you must collect a minimum number of nominations from eligible KMPDU members. Nominations are collected through your unique nomination link and are verified against the official voter register.

How the Nomination Process Works
After submitting your application, you will receive a unique nomination link via email and on your candidate dashboard.
Share this link with eligible KMPDU members who wish to nominate you. The link can be shared via WhatsApp, email, or any other channel.
When a member visits your nomination link, they will be asked to enter their National ID number. The system will verify their identity against the official voter register.
If the member is on the register, an OTP will be sent to their registered email address. They must enter the OTP to confirm their nomination.
Each member may only nominate a candidate once. Duplicate nominations are automatically rejected.
